HitFix: During the premiere last night, there was a moment when you walked off the stage and someone yelled out ‘I love you!’ You got a big laugh when you yelled back, ‘I love you too!’Saoirse Ronan: I know. That is so nice.
Does that happen often? Is that surprising to you?I have that happen a bit, but I don’t know. IWhenever anyone says that I think it’s so lovely. It’s such a nice thing for them to say and it sounded like she really meant it as well, so it was nice.

“Jared is my past, you are my present.” “I could be your future too.” “I would like that.”

I groaned. My head felt all swirly and disconnected. My stomach rolled nauseatingly.
“Finally,” someone murmured in relief. Ian. Of course. “Hungry?”

I try to look away, but he holds my chin so that my gaze can’t escape his. Does he not feel the fire between his body and mine? Is that all me? How can it all be me? It feels like a flat sun trapped between us—pressed like a flower between the pages of a thick book, burning the paper. Does it feel like something else to him? Something bad?
After a moment, his head turns; he’s the one looking away now, still keeping his grip on my chin. His voice is quiet. “You don’t owe me that, Melanie. You don’t owe me anything at all.”

I know a lot of people must think that “The Lovely Bones” is a pretty dramatic film and it’s going to be really deep and dark and everything, but I promise you it’s not. It’s really humorous and funny and bright and happy. Then this awful thing happens and it kind of makes everyone really sad, obviously, but they have to get on with things. It’s like the journey that Susie takes to learn to let go and realize that she can’t be with her family anymore, and the same for her family. They have to let go and they know that they can’t be with Susie. But it’s a really funny, lighthearted thing. There’s some really dramatic scenes in it as well, which is great with “The Lovely Bones” because you kind of get the best of both worlds. You get to do funny scenes and dramatic scenes. You get to cry, you get to laugh, so it’s great.
